Most window companies won’t tell you this, but when they say “replacement window,” they usually mean pocket inserts. The industry uses this term loosely, and homeowners end up paying for something that sounds complete but leaves half the problem untouched.
Pocket windows replace your glass and sash while leaving your old, deteriorating frame exactly where it sits. The drafts keep coming through your trim. The cold air still finds its way in. You’ve spent money, but your home feels the same.
We don’t install pocket windows at Carp’s Complete Exteriors. We’ve seen too many people spend good money on a solution that doesn’t actually solve anything.
Pocket Window Inserts
- Replaces just the glass and sash, your old frame stays put
- Fails to stop cold air leaking through the interior trim.
- No new insulation added to the wall cavity.
- Reduces visible glass area due to frame-in-frame design.
- Often uses vinyl, which pops seals in Nebraska’s climate.
Carp’s Full-Frame Replacement
- Replaces everything, down to the rough opening
- Stops all drafts by sealing the home’s “envelope”.
- Opening is flashed and spray-foamed directly to the framing.
- Maintains or increases natural light and visible glass.
- Utilizes Marvin fiberglass, which stays stable in extreme weather.
